When Shane Crawford was eight years old, he wrote down, 'When I grow up I want to win a Brownlow medal'. He played footy and every sport he could all through school, and made sure he could run faster and longer than everyone else. When he was 18, he was drafted to Hawthorn footy club. After playing for seven years, he won the Brownlow Medal he'd always wanted. Then, in his 305th and last game, Hawthorn won a premiership. This is Shane's story, for kids, about giving everything your best shot and making your dreams come true. Shane Crawford debuted with Hawthorn Football Club in 1993 and has had a distinguished AFL career. He was a Brownlow medallist in 1999, runner-up in 2003, captain for six years between 1999 and 2004 and has been awarded best and fairest four times and made the All Australian team four times. Shane played 304 AFL games before attaining his first premiership in his 305th and final match. He is a regular panelist on Channel Nine's The Footy Show, and a presenter on Postcards and Money for Jam. He has two boys with his partner, Olivia.


Glenn McFarlane is the Sports Editor for the Sunday Herald Sun. He was born into a Collingwood family and has been a passionate follower since childhood. Glenn is the grandson of Charlie Dibbs, who played 216 games with the Magpies from 1924 to 1935. Michael Roberts grew up wanting to play football at Victoria Park. He achieved his dream in under-age football - a cherished moment that lasted all of one quarter before he broke his arm and was carted off to hospital. His dreams thwarted, Michael turned to journalism. He is the editor and publisher of Collingwood Football Club's official magazine, In Black and White.
